Apple Filling
- 8 medium apples
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
Crispy Topping
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup quick oats
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 stick butter or 8 tablespoons margarine, melted
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Peel, core, and slice apples to desired size. Set aside.
- Combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt in a large bowl. Add sliced apples to the bowl and toss until well combined. Place the apple mixture in a greased baking dish in an even layer.
- In a medium bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix until well combined. Add melted butter to the mixture and mix again until butter is incorporated.
- Sprinkle the crispy topping mixture over the apple filling in the baking dish in an even layer.
- Bake in the oven for 40-45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and apples are soft. Serve alone or with ice cream.
