Dakotah! Sport and Fitness welcomes the participation of juniors, along with adults, in the use of the club’s facilities and programs.
All junior members ages 17 and under must be listed in the club’s membership system. Each junior member will receive a membership wristband.
- Junior members and nonmembers ages 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
- Junior members ages 9-13 must have a parent or legal guardian present in the facility at all times, with a 1:5 adult/junior ratio.
- Junior members ages 14+ do not need a parent or legal guardian present in the facility.
Two steps will be taken if these guidelines are not followed: first, the parent or legal guardian will be notified to pick up the junior member, and second, if the parent or legal guardian cannot be located or reached, the police will be notified.
ADULT ACTIVITIES AND LEAGUES
Members must be ages 18+ to participate in adult activities and leagues, such as basketball, volleyball, racquetball, or squash, unless otherwise noted.
CHARGING PRIVILEGES
Junior members may have charging privileges placed on their membership account. Any service, program fee, or item offered at Dakotah! Sport and Fitness for purchase may be charged. Junior members must present their membership wristband in order to make a charge. Any charges made by dependents will be the responsibility of the parent or legal guardian. Charges to your account will show up on the following month’s statement.
DAKOTAH! BOWLING
Dakotah! Sport and Fitness members ages 14+ are welcome without adult supervision. Nonmembers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
FITNESS FLOOR
Junior members 11 years and under are not allowed on the fitness floor or second floor fitness area under any circumstances. Junior members ages 16+ are allowed unrestricted access to the equipment on the fitness floor.
Junior members ages 11-15 must attend a free annual training prior to using any of the equipment on the fitness floor. After attending this training, junior members are allowed to use the equipment on which they were trained. To sign up for junior member training, please call 952.496.6874.
Junior members ages 14-15 may gain access to the strength training equipment and free weights by testing out with a personal trainer via different strength exercises.
Any member found not following Dakotah! Sport and Fitness policies may be asked to leave the facility. Repeated violation of policies may result in termination of membership.
GROUP FITNESS CLASSES
Junior members must be ages 12+ and/or must properly fit any equipment used during the class in order to participate in group fitness classes. Junior members not participating in group fitness classes may not be brought into the studios during class times under any circumstances.
LOCKER ROOMS
Children ages 3+ are not permitted in adult locker rooms of the opposite gender. A locker room with separate changing and shower rooms is provided for your convenience.
We ask that all junior members conduct themselves in the proper manner while using the facility. Please be considerate of other members. For health and safety reasons, the use of the saunas and steam rooms are restricted to members ages 13+.
POLICY FOR THE FITNESS FLOOR
For safety reasons, junior members must be ages 16+ and proficient at using the fitness equipment to be permitted in the fitness areas, including but not limited to:
- Cardio areas
- Fixed weight floor
- Stretching area
- Second floor workout area

Any junior member that appears to be under the age of 20 using the fitness floor will be approached by a staff member to ensure safety.
Junior members ages 11 and under and nonmembers ages 18 and under are not allowed in the fitness areas under any circumstances. Dakotah! Sport and Fitness offers a second floor workout area for parents/guardians who wish to work out at Dakotah! Sport and Fitness. Please note that children must be restrained in a car seat or stroller during workouts in the second floor area—no exceptions.
POOL AREA, OPEN SWIM/LAP SWIM, AND HOT TUB
Lifeguards are on duty during posted hours only. Children 14 years and under must be supervised in the pool area at all times, and must pass a swim test in order to be unaccompanied by an adult.
Junior members must be at least 14 years old to participate in lap swim. Lap swim is reserved for those who are nonstop lap swimming. When a lifeguard is not present, lap swim is available to members ages 18+ only. For health and safety reasons, no children under the age of 13 are allowed in the hot tub.
RUNNING/WALKING TRACK
Junior members ages 16+ and nonmembers ages 18+ are permitted on the running track. Junior members 16 years and under and nonmembers 18 years and under must be accompanied by an adult.
