What are some of the things that contribute to an exceptional health and fitness club? Of course a variety of equipment, quality facilities, and convenient food options for before and after your workout. But what truly sets Dakotah! Sport and Fitness apart from the competition is a welcoming environment—which not only means clean, well-kept amenities, but also a positive atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable to achieve their goals.
We encourage all members to do their part in sustaining this outstanding environment by remembering and exercising proper gym etiquette. When we respect the time and goals of other members in this shared space, it fosters a better sense of community, keeps us all safe, and contributes to a more enjoyable and productive experience for all!
Take a moment to review these weight room etiquette reminders:
- For your own safety, Crocs, Birkenstocks, flip flops, slides, or sandals are not allowed on the fitness floor at any time.
- Workout with a buddy! Not buddies… Groups of 4 or more can crowd the fitness floor and be a safety issue.
- Setting up circuits in the weight room is not permitted. One piece of equipment per person at a time. Supersets can be done when you have the weight room completely to yourself.
- Please do not exceed 30 minutes when using a piece of equipment. Allow others to work in between sets.
- Always wipe down your equipment after use.
- Dropping weights emphatically is not permitted. It can cause damage to the floor and weights. If you can’t control the weight, use a lighter weight.
- Headphones must be worn for anyone listening to audio from a personal device.
- Please use the designated stretching/core area if you need to lay down on a mat for your workout—not in the middle of the fitness floor or anywhere where it becomes a safety issue.
- Please temporarily leave the fitness floor for any phone calls or prolonged use of phones.
- Taking photos or videos of yourself or others on the fitness floor is not permitted. It is club policy, and you will be asked to leave.
- Please do not use benches as tables or weight racks.
