- Why did you join Dakotah! Sport and Fitness?
I joined Dakotah! Sport and Fitness to lift weights and stay in shape. That was more than 20 years ago and while I still work out, over that time I’ve used almost all of the amenities that Dakotah! Sport and Fitness has to offer like the ice rink, pool, gym, spin classes, and more.
- How long have you been a member?
I’ve been a member for more than 20 years and joined prior to having kids. It’s been a constant in my life as we’ve moved around the area several times. When I joined, My family and I lived in in Shakopee, then moved to Jordan, and we now live in Prior Lake. Our plan is to stay here for the foreseeable future and enjoy a nice short drive to Dakotah! Sport and Fitness.
- What do you like best about Dakotah! Sport and Fitness?
There’s so much to like about the club. From the moment you walk in, people are very friendly including Lavone who has greeted me since I first started coming. The gym is large, clean, and always kept in great shape. Even after all these years, I still enjoy the free clean towels and I know if those were taken away, I’d realize how great we had it.
- What area(s) of the club do you use?
When I first became a member, I primarily used the gym to lift weights and get in some cardio. Since that time, I feel like I’ve tried most areas as my kids have grown up. The pool was especially fun when the girls were little, and we’d spend hours going down the slide. I ended up coaching hockey for the last seven years and I am now back to working out periodically with my oldest daughter. Regardless of what I do, it generally ends with a fantastic smoothie at Dakotah! RECHARGE.
- What are your fitness or health goals and how is Dakotah! Sport and Fitness helping you attain them?
My goals aren’t too much different from when I started but I do view exercise slightly different. When I first joined, I wanted to get stronger and was always striving to make gains. Now I use the gym as part of my daily routine to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I’ve always enjoyed lifting weights and I enjoy the challenge it brings, but I am no longer as concerned with how much I can lift. It’s more about staying in shape and feeling good about getting the day going with an early-morning workout.
- Any tips for current or prospective members?
I’d say to enjoy all that Dakotah! Sport and Fitness has to offer. I feel fortunate to have been a member for a long time and have tried many things. I encourage others to do the same.
- Do you have a personal motto you’d like to share?
I’m not sure I have a motto, but I do really believe in a balanced and healthy lifestyle. There’s something about getting up early and working out that gives you a feeling of accomplishment, which allows you to start each day in the right mindset.
