Why did you join Dakotah! Sport and Fitness?
Connie and Marianne grew up in New Ulm, Minnesota—a city with a strong German heritage. In New Ulm, the Turnverein, or Turner Hall, was the center of the community. It was a hall built by the Turner Society and over the years it served as a community hall, a school, a cultural center, as well as a center for physical education—with class offerings etc. We grew up in families that participated in many of the activities, and we desired to have that in our lives. DSF offers us many of those same things.
How long have you been a member?
We have been members since 2002—so 20 years!
What do you like best about Dakotah! Sport and Fitness?
We joined this particular club because of the location and the facility itself. The building is comfortable, very well arranged, and completely full of machines to suit everyone’s needs. In addition, we had heard great things about it! First and foremost, the staff itself is remarkable and we’ve never felt differently in all 20 years. They are kind, very helpful, and inviting. In addition, there is a very nice little restaurant—AND you can have a massage!
What area(s) of the club do you use?
We currently really enjoy using the variety of equipment the club offers, however, in the past we have enjoyed the circuit room, the pool, and the classes.
What are your fitness or health goals and how is Dakotah! Sport and Fitness helping you attain them?
As we age, we know it is “use it or lose it” so we enjoy the club because it keeps us healthy, active, and social.
Any tips for current or prospective members?
Make time in your life for exercise. It is good for your body, mind, and spirit.
Do you have a personal motto you’d like to share?
One we live our lives by is “If you can’t say something nice about someone—don’t say anything at all.” This philosophy has blessed us with many friends and acquaintances over the years…
