If you grew up in the area or follow college sports, you may have heard the name Dawson Garcia before. A name that precedes many accomplishments and displays a bright future in the basketball scene. But did you know that the star basketball player is a long-time Dakotah! Sport and Fitness member with close ties to Prior Lake, specifically?

Recently, we had the pleasure of welcoming back the former Prior Lake High School basketball star to visit Dakotah! Sport and Fitness as an official brand ambassador and partner. His experience playing basketball at the NCAA Division I level, as well as representing the U.S. at the FIBA Under-18 World Cup has exposed him to some of the world’s finest training facilities, but there’s just something special about where his athletic career all started.

Garcia has been coming to Dakotah! Sport and Fitness for as long as he can remember, primarily spending his time in the gym, working on his game, or utilizing the many other fitness facilities offered at the state-of-the-art fitness center.

“It really has shaped me into the player and person I am today,” Garcia said, “and I couldn’t be more excited for this partnership.”

To Garcia, Dakotah! Sport and Fitness is different because of the tight-knit club community, the friendly staff who go above and beyond to assist members, and the exceptional facilities and equipment that are not only perfect for someone just starting their fitness journey but also meet the standard of an elite athlete.

“If you’re training to become a high-level athlete or just to stay fit, this is the place to be,” Garcia said, referencing the number of workout and wellness options available within the fitness center.

Garcia has had the opportunity to play basketball across the country and the world because of his immense dedication and hard work. As his career has progressed, he now enjoys representing and competing for his home state, allowing him to stop by Dakotah! Sport and Fitness from time to time.

“The great thing about staying in Minnesota,” he said, “is having the ability to come here whenever I want. It feels comfortable, and at the end of the day: It’s just home.”
